of Oban on Scotland’s West Coast.

Oban, often described as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’ and the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’, is an ideal base for travellers heading to the Inner and Outer Hebrides. As a busy port, it offers frequent ferry connections to many of the islands. Oban also makes a wonderful short stay destination. There is plenty to enjoy within the town itself, and it is perfectly located for day trips across the area.

Rooms

Glenburnie House was originally a Victorian private residence. It is perfectly positioned on the Oban esplanade and has an outstanding seafront location with spectacular views across Oban Bay and Kerrera Island.

The rooms are beautifully decorated in a traditional manner, and some have outstanding sea views. Accommodation is on a room only basis. Each room is equipped with a mini fridge, microwave and basic utensils for the convenience of the modern traveller.

A breakfast basket can be ordered upon arrival and includes cereal or porridge pot, orange juice and a freshly baked pastry. If you wish to have a full Scottish breakfast, the Obay Bay Hotel is a three minutes walk away and serves breakfast from 07:00 to 10:30.

We loved it : the house is full of charming details, clean, welcoming and warm. the view from our room is lovely and inspiring. The owner took time to welcome us and talked. Also he gives good advices. Room is confortable and super clean. Hotel right in the center. The room 4 is amazing. The 11 we had is also beautiful. Lots of coffee in town for breakfeast. Italian restaurant 2 doors from there is a gem. Relaxing town. bathrobes and slippers can be add on the room to make it perfect.

Graeme and Dan are simply lovable and they created a beautiful place where you wish you could stay forever. The house is stunning and our room was beautiful, with a lovely view across the bay. We slept so well and enjoyed every minute we spent at Glenburnie House. Breakfast is not offered, but there are a kettle and a mini fridge in the room, which you can stock up for a quick bite to eat in the morning, or, if you prefer, you can have breakfast in town. Tea and coffee are plentiful, so is fruit. The walk into town is nice, even if it can get quite windy, but the views are superb. Parking is also available, free of charge. I will always highly recommend this place and if I ever get back to Scotland and Oban, I will stay here again.

We just spent two lovely evenings at Glenburnie House overlooking the Bay with Graham and Dan, two of the most charming and accommodating hosts one could hope for. No reasonable request was beyond their capacity, the room was well fitted out, the bed comfortable, the view exquisite, and the short stroll into town along the promenade is something I shall certainly remember and miss.
It is quiet and peaceful, there’s a wonderful Italian restaurant, Porcini, two doors down that Graham recommended our first night there that was a treat, especially for two weary travelers from New Mexico who had spent the better part of a day and a half to arrive.
I recommend Glenburnie without hesitation, but recommend you make a reservation, as this is a popular venue, and for good reason.

Wonderfully friendly hosts and off-street parking.   Plentiful tea & coffee and a fruit basket.  Lots of breakfast options in Oban so room only no problem.  A great base for exploring the islands.

Our hosts, Graeme and Dan, were lovely and greeted us personally on arrival and again on our departure. Ask them about the mounted bull head in the entry!!  Quite a story. The room was divine. VERY spacious with a king sized bed and yet PLENTY of room to move around. We were fortunate enough to have a front room with a  bay window overlooking the water. My elderly mum was in her glory sitting there watching the boats sail by and the sunset over the water. More than we could have hoped for and most definitely the nicest of the six overnight stays we had during our trip. I am now back “Down Under” 🇦🇺 but I will definitely be staying again next time I visit my homeland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿   (It is best for the hosts if you book directly through the actual property or their website-you can take the lass out of Scotland but you can’t take Scotland out of the lass).

   Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We stayed two nights at the Glenburnie House and had a truly wonderful time! The owners are a lovely couple and very accommodating and we really enjoyed getting to meet them.

The house itself is very cool, historic but very well kept and clean with a cool sitting room facing the water as you enter. Our room was really cozy and clean, really no complaints. It was also really quite and we found it very easy to relax and recoup there. They also provide plenty of things like coffee and milk, snacks, etc.

They don't do a breakfast service and are hands off with your room while you're there which was nice, you have you're privacy. there's plenty of great food in oban too so finding a full breakfast is a few minute walk away.

We planned our visit to Oban on a whim while visiting Scotland and really enjoyed it. Really beautiful place, Highly recommend hiking around Kerrera as well!
